Meeting with two teachers of Samsun University in the context of the Erasmus European Programme :

Ms. Zerrin Eren and M. Mufit Semel came from the University of Samsun in Turkey on an Erasmus Mobility Programme from 16 to 19 September 2013. The University of Samsun or (OMU : Ondokuz Mayis Universitesi ) was established in 1975. Today, with over 40.000 students and 2 000 academic staff, it’s one of the leading universities in Turkey in terms of staff quality and number, in academic, social facilities and infrastructures. Besides, with 15 faculties the internationalisation represents one of the main objectives that’s why OMU wants to develop and be recognised on the international level. Being aware of the importance of creating knowledge and technology as well as increasing the international imployability of its graduates, continuous development of education and research quality is of utmost importance. The University also encourages the students and staff to experience international cultures and communication and interaction are at top level.

In this context M. Mufit Semel and Ms. Zerrin Eren came to Merignac’s Espe. The Erasmus European programme offers the possibility of studying or working abroad in another country. It’s a very good experience to travel in a country. It allows students or teachers to meet diverse partners, to discover a different culture from theirs but also to exchange with foreign students as well as professors.

Teaching staff mobility enables staff to spend a teaching period between 1 day – or at least 5 teaching hours – and 6 weeks at a higher education institution in another participating country. This programme aims at encouraging higher education institutions to broaden and enrich the range and content of the courses they offer, to promote the exchange of expertise and experience on pedagogical methods, to create links between higher education institutions and the enterprises and to motivate students and staff to become mobile and to assist them in preparing a mobility period.
